Giving Wings to the Underprivileged During Crucial Educational Years

19 cell phones donated by Friends of Kalpana & Jaydev Desai, USA

The Coronavirus pandemic has induced most educational institutions to conduct classes online. At present the Arpana Trust Centre in Molarbund is conducting online classes on Zoom and Google Meet for students in classes 1-12.

The majority of the students are benefitting from this initiative through the smart phones of their parents or, if they live in a joint family set up, of one of their other relatives.

However, 19 students could not attend these classes as they did not have access to a smartphone. This was of great concern as these students were lagging behind.

Out of these 19 students, four students from 10th class and two students from 12th class would be sitting for their board examinations in year 2021. As we are all aware, these are decision making years in one’s career and not being able to keep up with studies at this crucial time, could adversely affect the careers and lives of these students.

With the support of friends of Kalpana and Jaydev Desai from the USA, 19 cell phones have been magnanimously gifted for these students. They will be able to sit for their exams and all can continue their studies in their field of interest!
